This is an exciting opportunity in Rocky Mount, North Carolina for a Material Handler.

  • Responsible to know, understand and comply with all departmental, site and company policies and procedures

  • Participates in training and personal development; trains other departmental personnel

  • Ensures personal operation certification is current and regularly uses certification documentation as a training tool. Operator Certification and Process Documentation are the foundation of standard work in Machining

  • Actively lead/participate as needed in continuous improvement that improves safety, cost, quality and delivery

  • Flexible work hours as needed to support any shift. Must be able to rotate all three shift

  • Completes all duties as assigned


  • Actively engages in assuring the continual well-being of themselves and their co-workers

  • Understands safe machine operation adhering to Certification Training, Risk Assessments and Job Safety Analysis, Lock Out Tag Out, Process Documentation etc.


  • Uses a variety of machines to create the proper characteristics and dimensions in accordance with process documentation

  • Utilizes Statistical Process Control (SPC) to control quality processes and reacts accordingly based on the data

  • Achieve daily production goals

  • Uses material handling equipment including hoists and forklifts to move parts

  • Works with peers, support staff, trades etc. to maintain/repair equipment

  • Expedites and manages tool change processes; monitors tool usage and tool cost for the operations. Raises issues to minimize cost and quality exposures

  • Conduct daily machine start-up and preventative maintenance tasks on time

  • Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping/machine cleaning tasks and performs planned operator care/maintenance tasks that are defined as part of the production work

  • Obtain/Maintain a fork truck license as required


  • Follows process documentation to perform quality checks using gauges and other measuring devices

  • Performs rework, scrap transactions, identifies and controls non-conforming materials

  • Communicates needed process documentation updates as appropriate to support staff, required to stay current with product and process changes

  • Collects, analyzes and displays operating data

  • Engages cross functionally in formal use of common problem-solving techniques when issues arise

  • Participates in improvement projects


  • Communicates effectively within the team and with all the support teams

  • Responsible to learn and complete certification on several operations and other team related tasks as determined with the area Team Manager

  • Demonstrates flexibility. Manages personal work hours to best support the business including working alternate shifts as required

  • Understand team cost goals and is engaged in helping the team manage cost

  • Completes work with minimal supervision

  • Manage time well and work productively

  • Operates within team based work systems and rotates job routine as needed

  • Take on vertical tasks and other jobs associated with Team Based Work Systems

  • Be reliable. Excellent attendance and promptness, meeting commitments to customers and others

  • Participates in improvement projects. Maintains a continuous improvement mindset always looking to improve Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery Reliability

  • Continuously improve personal skills, abilities and contributions to team efforts

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required

  • Experience with metal cutting machinery in a production environment

  • Interest in problem solving and improvement

  • Experience with precision measuring equipment

  • Blueprint Reading

  • Geometric Tolerancing

  • Mathematics to include algebra and geometry

  • Knowledge of SPC

  • Ability to perform preventative/minor maintenance on machinery

  • Knowledge of Metric System

  • Must pass all related testing

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience
