This is an exciting opportunity in Rocky Mount, North Carolina for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Support Block Lines to enable Rocky Mount Engine Plant to exceed its safety, quality and thru-put goals

  • Work with quality, operations, maintenance and engineering, technicians and managers on line issues

  • Review and respond to reports from coordinate measuring machine

  • Respond to out of control/out of specification hand gauge readings

  • Perform time studies to document machine and process cycle times

  • Initiate/route manufacturing change requests for process changes

  • Reduce variation in processes to maintain capability

  • Interface with Quality and Product Engineering to respond to 7-Steps and ensure capability of Key Major Critical Characteristics

  • Assist Engineering resources in gathering data

  • Assist in miscellaneous projects as needed

  • Be a Team Player

  • Communicate effectively throughout the organization

  • Must have working hour flexibility to meet customer needs that include shift rotation

  • Attendance consistent with plant and team policy and team standards

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required with a technical degree strongly preferred

  • Must pass all required testing

  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds frequently

  • Must be able to work with oils, greases and cleaners

  • Customer-Led and has the desire to meet customer expectations

  • Self-Motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks at the same time

  • Able to interface with all facets of Engineering and clearly communicate plant level process needs and impacts

  • Good communication, organization, problem-solving and reading skills

  • Computer Proficient (Keyboarding, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word)

Training or experience in:

  • Skilled Trades Certified Journeyperson preferred

  • Work Measurement

  • Work Sampling

  • Manufacturing Change Request and Process Documentation (EASE System preferred)

  • Maximo Work Order System

  • Total Quality Management

  • Plant Layout

  • Lock Out Tag Out

  • Workplace Design

  • Workflow Analysis

  • Ergonomics

  • Error Proofing Strategies

  • Machining Tooling

  • Coordinate Measuring Machine Reports

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience
