Description:

Operates thermal spray equipment independently and with minimal supervision in accordance with quality and productivity requirements safely in a manufacturing environment. Applies thermal spray coatings to parts in accordance with specifications. May instruct or coach others. The thermal spray operator may also perform support operations.

Operates automation equipment with some capability for minor adjustments to program.

Applies the required coating materials to parts in accordance with process planning using plasma spraying or other thermal spray methods.

Performs basic preventive maintenance on spray and material feed equipment, ensuring the consumable equipment parts are replaced as needed.

Works productively to meet or exceed established production standards while being aware of costs of supplies, equipment, and poor quality.

Is responsible for the proper handling and maintenance of equipment and tools

Delivery

Fully proficient with all work processes, independently operating equipment to apply thermal spray coatings.

Instructs and coaches others and acts as an informal resource for team members with less capability.

Performs and documents preventive, emergency, corrective and predictive maintenance activities.

Achieves production goals.

Works at the required cycle time.

Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks and performs planned operator care and maintenance tasks.

Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet production goals.

Work with peers and support staff to:

Maintain and identify equipment needing repair.

Identify and reduce manufacturing constraints.

Solve problems and improve processes.

Participate in continuous improvement activities.

Performs other miscellaneous duties as required to meet production goals.

Teamwork

Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.
