Manufacturing Technician - Assembly 3rd shift

Description

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Technician - Assembly (Third Shift) to join our team located in Ladson, SC.

While in this role, you will coordinate the activities of a group of employees in order to meet established production specifications and schedules including volume, cost, wastage targets, and quality standards.

Delivery

  • Operates manual and automated equipment to manufacture and assemble products in order to create the proper characteristics and dimensions necessary to meet customer expectations.

  • Achieves production goals.

  • Works at the required cycle time or defined engineering standard.

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks, and performs planned operator care and maintenance tasks.

  • Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet production goals.

  • Works with peers, skilled trades, and support staff to maintain and identify equipment needing repair.

Teamwork

  • Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.

  • Completes training and personal development in line with business requirements.

  • Participates actively in ways to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities for an asynchronous flow assembly line.

  • Responsible for effective use of resources

  • Maintain safety, quality, delivery, and production, while identifying areas for improvement and leading implementation of change.

  • Ability to effectively interact with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and project teams to understand and deliver requirements.

  • Ability to react quickly to issues and work through conflicting priorities

  • Lead and guide a team of associates in a fast-paced production environment

Skills, functional and Technical

  • Assembly background with working knowledge of tooling, failsafing, fastening methods, technical drawings, general repair, and preventative maintenance.

  • Working knowledge of process documentation/work instructions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to diagnose/correct general equipment problems.

  • Familiar with fastening methods, torqueing, testing, PLCs, experience with automation a plus.

  • Familiar with basic component layout, strong understanding of quality processes

  • Familiar with quality systems, ISO, TS, or similar

  • Working knowledge of SPC, Capability, Gage R&R.

  • Familiarity with 6 Sigma, lean manufacturing a plus

  • PC Skills, experience with MS Word, Excel, email

Physical Requirements

  • Must lift, rotate 90 degrees, and carry metal turbo cores weighing up to 34lb up to 4 feet 40 times per hour.

  • Must be able to grasp and operate two hoist handles at 78-80” from the ground to load turbochargers into containers.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 6’ parts weighing up to 42lb.

  • Must be able to press together a two-handed retaining ring tool, 40times/hour

  • Must be able to insert retaining rings using one-handed retaining ring pliers, 40 times/hour

  • Must be able to stand/walk for 8-12 hours/shift up to 2 hours consecutively.

  • Must be able to walk from the assembly area to designated fire exits, meetings areas, etc up to 1280 feet.

  • Must push/pull wheeled carts requiring up to 85lb force
