The Shop Production Technician has the primary responsibility of up-fitting generators with both Factory and non-Factory supplied/assembled options including mechanical and electrical components. Includes some prototyping and design capabilities for new applications/installations as well as improvements on existing designs.

This includes fabrication, machining and welding of metal parts and mounting adaptations. Installing, wiring/cabling of electrical components. Pipe fitting and installation of threaded pipe and hose assemblies. Each up-fit is performed in a manner that is both expeditious and cost effective to the customer and Cummins.

Key responsibilities for this Irvine, CA -based Shop Tech role :

  • Shop Production up-fits of generators according to daily schedules and work plans.

  • And perform work in accordance with Cummins safety standards and practices.

  • Maintain a clean work environment at all times.

  • Keep up to date on current Cummins products, services and procedures.

  • Complete all assigned training requirements, continuously improve technical knowledge and skills.

Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications :

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Complete set of technician tools.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a production technician or technical school diploma.

  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read mechanical/electrical specifications, schematics and fabrication drawings.

  • Knowledge of general manufacturing principles of mechanical and electrical production.

  • Desire to promote and practice Safety in the Manufacturing Organization while maintaining awareness of implementing all applicable safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
